Message from Board of Directors
The last year has proven the high level of professionalism and resiliency that has characterized Lennox and Addington Family and Children Services over its considerable history. The changes that the last year have wrought in the Agency have been both challenging and I know often stressful for all of us, yet here we are about to cross the threshold of another major evolutionary step as we begin final preparations for our amalgamation with Frontenac Children’s Aid Society.
When we began the amalgamation process, we made a commitment to acknowledge the tremendous history and accomplishments of our two organizations, to ensure the respectful treatment of staff during the process, and most importantly to build a new, amalgamated agency, that was even more adept at meeting the needs of our community. The jointly developed Aspiration Statement crafted during the Organizational Summit in January of this year made it clear just how we were going to approach the challenges that lay ahead of us. It is worth looking back and reflecting on what we decided our new organization would look like:
“We are a strength based organization that is committed to excellence in protecting children and youth, promoting the well being and strengthening of families through innovative quality services, professional excellence and collaborative community partnerships.”
Throughout this last year the Board of Directors have been repeatedly inspired and buoyed by this aspiration and the determined optimism of everyone to complete this evolution. Support at all levels – from the Commission to Promote Sustainable Child Welfare and the Ministry of Children and Youth Services, to staff at each agency as well as our Community Partners – has made it possible to move the amalgamation process steadily forward and to focus on the opportunities amalgamation presents. We all realize that the road ahead will have some bumps, but we are determined to build a new strength based reality for children, youth, and families and we remain optimistic that the amalgamation process will culminate in an innovative quality service founded on professional excellence and community partnership that will be sustainably funded into the future.
In closing and on behalf of all members of the Lennox and Addington Family and Children’s Services Board of Directors I would like to thank all of you once again for your professionalism and steadfast commitment to the very important work that you do. With your continued commitment and support, we can build the organization of our aspirations that will provide the protection to children and youth as well as the innovative and strengthening support to the families that live in our community so that together we all thrive.
