Message from Board of Directors

Last year was an historical turning point for L&A, Family and Children’s Services.   In 2008, the Board had endorsed and is now successfully operating under the terms and conditions of a “Governance” model.  At the 2008 A.G.M., an announcement was made about the agency’s new location and building.  Thanks to the efforts of many, both the Ventin Group and Peak Construction have commenced with the building of our future home which will be a landmark building in Napanee for years to come.  And, of course, the Ontario “Transformation” agenda continues to be the focus of our work for the children, youth and families in our community.

It is with a deep sense of pride and appreciation that the Board wishes to acknowledge and all the staff, our foster parents and our community partners for their dedicated work which has proven to be so valuable during these financially difficult times.  Your work in the community continues to be a very valuable resource to so many who are in your trusted care.  It is our sincere hope that as a Board we will be able to maintain the support for your very special programs and the very important work that you provide.

Our Board of Directors must also be congratulated for their commitment to their fiduciary responsibilities and endless hours of voluntary work to be sensitive and supportive of those who need us most.   For those who are leaving the Board, may we extend our heart felt thanks for your dedicated service to the make thisa better community for all who live and work in our county.

May I take this moment to express my sincere gratitude for your continued support and cooperation to promote a future full of trust and hope for our children, youth and families.

Bill Lee
President

Thank You United Way of KFLA for helping us provide a summer of wonderful childhood memories through our Kool Kamp!

Recently our agency was fortunate to receive a United Way of KFLA One-Time Priority Needs grant to assist with the cost of our Kool Kamp which runs for seven weeks each summer.  Kool Kamp provides a safe opportunity for respite for children and families who often struggle with physical limitations, lack of transportation or financial constraints which would normally prevent these children from attending day camp.

Thank You Napanee District Community Foundation!

Thanks to the Napanee District Community Foundation for their generous support, once again in 2010.  In 2009, We received a grant to assist with a Positive Parenting Program which has proven beneficial to many families over the past year.  For 2010, we were recipients of a $1000 grant to support the beginning of an Adoption Support Program, with the goal of ensuring lasting family relationships for adoptive families through education and support.

Thank You! Ontario Trillium Foundation

Many thanks to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for providing a $75,000 grant enabling the construction of a fully accessible play structure for our new facility.  This play structure will accommodate children of all ages and abilities and encourages active play through the use of a puppet theatre, a play road way complete with traffic signs and many other opportunities for learning and playing together.
We would like to thank the many individuals and businesses who helped support the first annual Angel Dance, a benefit in memory of the late Steacy Fralick.  The dance took place on March 13th at Selby Hall and included a silent auction and entertainment by Mojo Shooter and Shurtliffe DJ Services.  More than $3400 was raised and donated to Lennox and Addington Family and Children’s Services to help support children and youth in our community.
