Message from the Executive Director

Lennox and Addington Family and Children’s Services is committed to the well being of all children in our community.  We believe that the best living environment for children is with their family.  While our first objective is to ensure that the well being of children is protected, wherever possible, we want the family to assume that fundamental role. Often our job is to support families during difficult times so that they in turn may continue to provide loving care, guidance and nurturance to their children.

We recognize that there are times where circumstances require substitute care for a child.  In those situations where we become the temporary guardian of children we commit to do our utmost to provide excellent care for children living away from their families, while we continue to support the parents in resolving their outstanding issues, with the goal of reunification wherever possible.

Children need, and have a right to a permanent, stable family, capable of meeting their every day needs as well as providing the foundation of support and guidance that will shape their character development and allow them to realize their potential.  Where reunification is not possible, we undertake to ensure that children in our care have caring families that are committed to these needs.

We recognize that to achieve the outcome of healthy families, we need to have healthy communities.  Lennox and Addington Family and Children’s Services is committed to work towards the ongoing improvement of child focused and child friendly communities through its partnership with other family and child service providers, advocacy work on behalf of children and families and direct services at a community level.
