Our Services
We are the mandated agency to provide Child Welfare Services in Lennox and Addington County. A “child in need of protection” is defined under Provincial Statute, the Child and Family Services Act.
Our agency is responsible to assess any reported concern of safety or well being occurring in Lennox and Addington County, as set out in Legislation and Provincial Standards, involving a child under the age of sixteen (16) years.
Our services include counseling and support to parents through an assigned staff support, parenting education and skills development through our Beyond the Basics Parenting program, as well as life skills support, homemaking, budgeting and other practical skills development through our Intensive Support Worker services.
Our supported access services also provide an opportunity for parent coaching and strengthening of the parent child relationship.
Our staff may also assist in finding the right external resource for families through our advocacy and community links services.
Each summer our agency offers a summer day camp experience for children in our community through an agency run program KOOL KAMP.
Our agency provides both Foster Care and Adoption Services for children placed in our care, and provides a full range of support services to meet the needs of children where we assume parental responsibilities. Whenever possible, we will work with families towards the placement of children with extended family members or family friends through our Kin Care services when children need to reside outside of the family home.
On a referral basis, we can offer mediation or family group counseling services in response to conflicts that may interfere with the well being or stability of a child in a home or placement.
We also have programs for youth placed under our care to assist them in social skills development and acquisition of important life skills.
Our Family Support Program provides services to children and families in our community where there is a child in the home with a physical or developmental delay. These services include advocacy, referral, support, and brokering on behalf of the child and family. The family Support program also offers groups for teens, and both a March Break and summer day camp experience for children receiving services under this program.
