Training and Support

Approved foster families work closely with their Resources worker and with the Child in Care worker.  Together, the foster family and agency staff work as a team in addressing the best interests of the child and ensuring that the foster family has the resources needed for care.

Foster parents receive additional training through attendance at conference and training events held both locally and provincially on matters relevant to fostering.

Our local Foster Parents Association is very active in bringing training to the local area for foster parents, and provides an additional support network for foster families.  The Foster Parent Association organizes several social events each year for foster families.

Our Cluster Groups are another source of ongoing education and support for foster families.  Foster families meet regularly to learn more about some of the unique aspects of fostering.  These gatherings also provide a mutual support opportunity for foster parents.
